"We may have our differences, but nothing is more important than family..."

As an attorney that have practiced in Family law and disputes for over a decade, I have learned that the essence of "family" lies in love, respect, and finding common ground—values that should be preserved and nurtured, no matter how a family may evolve or look. I have experienced first hand what the devastating consequences of an adversarial court system like ours in South Africa can have on families.

Where family members are often pitted against each other in a mudslinging contest that can only lead to more mistrust and devastation, for the parties and especially their children. Systemic issues and overburdened courthouses also ensures for delayed resolution and can lead to severe injustices. All of this during a time where these families and its members are undergoing substantial trauma and having to grieve a life that they once dreamed of. 

That is why mediation as a form of alternative dispute resolution plays an integral part in our ever evolving modern society, where intact families are no longer the societal norm. We are also noticing a trend where the courts sometimes require the parties in a dispute to enter into the mediation process before they approach the court.

At Mediation Garden Route, we are dedicated to helping families navigate challenging transitions with compassion, understanding, and respect. Our mission is to offer a space where each party feels heard, allowing for a constructive dialogue that leads to sustainable, positive outcomes.

We understand that family disputes, especially those involving divorce and co-parenting, can be emotionally taxing and overwhelming. 

Our goal is not only to mediate resolutions but also to empower families with the tools and insights they need to build healthier, more resilient relationships moving forward.
